Small Business Website Audits Identify Issues and Opportunities for Profitable Growth

Low Cost Website Audits for Locally Based Small Businesses

How Can I Improve My Website,  So I Get More New Business?

Successful companies constantly evauate their major business assets. Staff are reviewed, budgets checked, and equipment maintained and replaced as needed.

They also periodically evaluate their websites as well.  Is it set up properly to get found by prospective customers? When propects see my page, does it do the job of getting them to take the next step?

These are important questions.  A succesful web presence can add significantly to a bottom line, or alternatively, just sit there – gathering digital dust and doing basically nothing.

My Take

In my two decades plus of working online, I have seen the good, bad and ugly. I don’t mind ugly if it does a good job of being found by prospective customers – although being found and attractive will work better.  What I think is Bad are very good looking sites that nobody sees.  And unfortunately, that is the vast bulk of small business websites, particularly those of small contractors, mom & pop shops and professionals serving their immediate local communities.  And that is a shame.

It is partly due to confusion about what a website should be.  It is a question of…

Beauty Vs. Substance

An attractive website offers a great first impression for a business. At a minimum, it effectively communicates the essentials – What your value proposition is and how to take advantage of it.  A well done site will have a solid call to action that gently nudges the viewer to take action – to call, visit or request additional information.

Such a site can be very attractive and profitable… if the right people see it…especially when they are actively shopping for your goods or services.

And that is the substance part of the equation.  How do you get more people to see and appreciate what you can do for them?

Marketing Your Website – The Missing Ingredient

You have a website to help market your business.  But you also need to market your website.

This is where many business fall down, and where I hope to help. The more appropriate people who see your website the more business you will have, assuming the website does its job.

The bad news is that the how to’s are many and varied and seemingly always changing.

The good news is that in most locations and market niches, it is very possible for even the smallest businesses to grow there business with more effective website marketing.  And that means increasing profits, if you know the ropes.

I do.

I can help you understand where you stand today and what you may want to do to grow your online business success.

The First Step – Know Where You Are

The road to success starts with knowing where you are and a plan on how to get where you want to go.

To help you do that, I am offering an inexpensive Website Audit that starts at the beginning. Where you are today.

What’s Included in the Website Audit?

There are 8 important elements to your Website Audit

  • Local On Page SEO
  • General SEO
  • Google My Business Page
  • Content Audit
  • Backlink Audit
  • Social Media
  • Citation Audit

Who Is It For?

Our Website Audit is designed for small businesses serving a local market area.  That can be as little as a mile and half radius around your location, or your entire city or metropolitan area.  It is not meant for eCommerce sites selling goods on their website, or national or regional brands. Our clientele typically consists of small contractors such as plumbers, HVAC, accountants, medical professionals, yoga studios, service businesses like locksmiths, home stagers, computer repair firms, etc.

Local businesses actually have a distinct advantage over regional, national and international brands due to Googles ability to identify searchers within your geographical market area.

We reserve the right to refuse sites for which we do not feel the audit will produce worthwhile and actionable results.

How Much Does a Website Audit Cost?

There is a one time investment of just $249, payable in advance.  We offer a 15 day money back 100% satisfaction guarantee.  The risk is on us.

What Information Is Needed and How Long Does It Take?

We need the basics, the Business Name, Address and Phone Number as well as the Actual Website Domain. And of course contact information of the owner or key person to who we will report results.  We like to present the results in person, if possible in the Minneapolis St Paul metro area, although this is not necessary. We can provide this service nationwide, in which case we will interact by phone or email.  The typical audit requires a 7-10 day turnaround time, plus or minus depending upon our then current work load.

What Do I Get for My Money?

Our 29 point audit will pinpoint problem areas. What you are doing right, what you are doing wrong and what you may not be doing at all. Ultimately we are looking at what it may take to get your site ranked in the Google 3 Pack in particular. We look at all the known factors that affect how Google sees your site. The typical audit runs 6-7 pages long and specifically addresses your website and action steps you can take to improve your site and win more new customers. This includes…

Local SEO:

We look at all major factors that might be hindering your local site from ranking: schema, maps, NAP consistency, and much more. This is the most comprehensive section of the audit.

General On Page SEO

Our General Onpage SEO section tackles onpage that isn’t locally specific… Internal links, site speed, mobile friendliness, and a few others.

Google My Business Page (GMB)

The businesses GMB page can be deceptively simple, some folks think all you need to do is verify it and then the job is done. We’ll tell you all the ways your particular GMB page can be optimized.

Content Audit

We’ll tell you how much content the site has (and if it could use more), where any duplicate content is, and more important content issues.

Backlink Audit

We’ll dig through your pages and links, find any important pages that might be neglected, and also give you some ideas for potential new niche link sources.

Conversion Suggestions

Even though conversion has little to do with local SEO, I included conversion in the audit because of how many times I saw local sites getting the fundamentals wrong when it came to conversion. We’ll make sure the site isn’t making any major conversion mistakes.

Social

How many of your pages have social signals, if any at all? Where can you still register the businesses brand-name? We check the most important data for you when it comes to Social and report back what we find.

Citation Audit

We scrape, research, and find all of your website’s citations. But we also visit each URL after we find it and note the business name, address, and phone number displayed. We will tell you which citations are correct, what need fixing, and what are duplicated.

Armed with this information, you can move forward fixing these yourself or you can check out our Citation Cleanup and Boost service if you want us to fix them for you. This last step of the Citation Audit is more important tham most realize and is especially important if your business has moved, or changed its name or phone number and or use multiple phone numbers. Citations are among the most powerful tools to get ranked in the Google 3 pack.
